I monitor the campus scene closely, in work for the Algemeiner — a terrific news source that focuses on Jews/Israel, and which has had a dedicated “Campus Bureau” for nearly ten years. The Algemeiner was ahead of its time in seeing the antisemitism growing on campuses, and now that it has exploded into the open since the October 7 massacre the news outlet has been working overtime to monitor and analyze. Meanwhile, just to give you a sense of the scale of the phenomenon, here are the stories I have tracked simply since October 1 of this year, less than three weeks. Bits of good news, of wins, but loads of bad. I think it’s safe to say that our campuses, at least the major ones, are quite out of control with Jew-hatred. You probably should have that fact in mind as you prepare to cast your vote in the upcoming federal elections.

The judge's ruling failed to consider a number of important issues.
SJP reserved the entire 9 acre McKeldin Mall from 7 am to 11 pm, for what they stated in their application was an invitation only event for 25-50 people. This served no legitimate purpose other than to block Jewish groups from using the mall on October 7th, to suppress their speech and violate their first amendment rights.
The university could have approved only a portion of the mall for SJP, and allowed others to engage in expressive events on the mall, but they chose not to.
By granting SJP exclusive use of the entire mall on October 7th , the university violated the first amendment right of Jewish and Israeli students. Their actions represented viewpoint discrimination and suppression of speech.
The university also violated their own procedures in approving the event. According to the event confirmation details of events were supposed to be provided by an Augsut 14th deadline, so police, the fire marshall and risk management could review the event prior to approval.
SJP never submitted any details of their event in their application.
At a press conference on September 17th SJP board member Abel Amene stated “ while we are still in the planning stages of this event, that is still three weeks out, we have begun to formulate some ideas of what it would include”.
As of September 17th, SJP had no final plans for their event , they were still in the planning stages. And the university never submitted plans to police, fire marshall and risk management for review because there were none.
The application also did not include JVP as a co sponsor, therefore this also was never approvded by the university
And finally UMD SJP published statements on Instagram related to their Octobvoer 7th event which targeted Jewish and Israeli students with slurs and stereo types which may violateTitle VI.
This includes the statements “ Zionists on this campus celebrate the death and destruction of Palestinian life” , the Jewish observance of October 7th is a “genocidal celebratory event”, anyone who opposes their Oct 7th event is racist and Islamophobic, and the false claim that “over 186,000 Palestinians have been murdered”.
In the Washington Post on 10/1 SJP member Abel Amene was quoted as saying they were going to commemorate the hundreds of Palestinians bombed and killed in Gaza on October 7th. This NEVER HAPPENED.
To top things off apparently the judge told SJP he understood October 7th was sacrosanct for them.

What an indictment of academia today. Hillel, ADL, ....any advocacy group for Israel is "white supremacist" or "Jewish supremacist" Even the liberal ones that condemn the right of Jews to live between the river and the sea....not just behind an imaginary "green" line. When I was a university student the trotskyites, the maoists, the spartacist league, SDS, were anti Israel anti Zionist but the Vietnam war was the issue. The Arabs on campus and Arabic language dept hadn't yet mobilized full scale hate. Nor had the faux Jews. The paraodies of seders, and now sukkahs for their derangement.
