This is extremely interesting. While the analysis seems certainly true of Hamas et al, who are authoritarian Islamists, the piece above seems to suggest that that is generally true of the Palestinians as a whole. Is that impression international? If we are to take Muslims/Arabs/Palestinians at their word, treated them with that respect and acknowledging their agency in this conflict unlike many of my international comrades who consider themselves on the left, then ought we not to apply that same respect and logic to those in Fatah et al, or in no party, who while they may wish for example for total RoR (right of return), say that they wish more for peace, security, dignity and prosperity for their children? Or is that liberal western projection and actually all Palestinians, secretly or otherwise, wish for nothing other than to kill us all? Having read your fanatically written and thought-provoking review, I'm unsure which of these you believe... and would love to know.
